Cameroonian and Congolese Recipes I made on the mission

One of the most helpful things to bring on the mission is a real American cookbook. One elder had one in one apartment in Cameroon and we made some really good American food.

The recipe that we made the most with this recipe book was the Banana cake/banana bread. We made this banana bread for every member of our branch including the inactive members during the Christmas season to “Light the World”.

We also really liked the Poulet DG recipe and the stewed beans recipe.

Cameroonian food is delish so never be afraid to get creative and ask the woman at the market what the ingredients are because they will be glad to point them out to you and to help you make delicious food.

I found most of these recipes and still find recipes from this Cameroonian food website called https://www.preciouscore.com/meal-plan-shopping-list-week-1/.

The food will make your mouth water and the recipes are super easy.

Where to find African ingredients in Utah

A great place where you can find African ingredients is the African Food Store in Orem, Utah. The Address is : 720 N 980 W, Orem, UT 84057. It’s actually a Nigerian woman who sells stuff directly from Africa out of her garage so you have to call her ahead of time. This place has everything you need to make real African food like palm oil, maggi cubes (seasoning cubes that are ubiquitous in Congo/Cameroon), and crayfish or little shrimp.

There is an African food store in Salt Lake City called African Discount Store. They sell frozen cassava leaves to make saka saka, they sell cow skin for eru, they sell fufu powder, they sell eru leaves, they also sell ndolé leaves and lots of other things.

You can find more Congolese and Cameroonian recipes online here.
