P-Day Ideas for Congo and Cameroon

P-day ideas in Brazzaville

1. One thing that never gets boring is having a picnic and playing games on the banks of the Congo River. Take the bus to the southern part of the city where there are the Congo rapids and prepare a lunch for everyone to enjoy next to the river.

2. If you feel really adventurous you can explore your area with the members. Sometimes you never get a chance to see the interesting natural features of your area like rivers, villages or scenic views, so it’s worth it to explore these areas with a member to guide you. It’s way more fun than sitting in your apartment.

3. Going to restaurants in Congo is a rare treat and you can do it after going to the cyber café in the city.

4. Going to La Corniche and taking pictures. This is especially fun to do on holidays like New Years and Christmas.

5. Brazzaville has breathtaking views in the north where there are hills and you can take pictures with the entire city as a background.

There are so many things to do. The members know cool places to go. Ask the members to accompany you to these places. They will love to help you find great things to do.

Pointe-Noire: Having activities and food at the beach

Douala: Missionaries in 2014 in Douala, Cameroon used to go to Limbe, 4 hours north of Douala, but there is a conflict between French-speakers and English-speakers in the region so it’s too dangerous to travel there.

There is another costal city called Kribi south of Douala that could be possible to visit.

Yaoundé: In Yaoundé we went to a store that only sells American products directly from the US. Their selection is amazing and it has good prices. You can find it’s location in this Google Earth map I made of interesting areas for missionaries in Congo and Cameroon.

You can also hike one of the many mountains sourrounding Yaoundé and take some awesome pictures.

Or you can simply organize a soccer game with the zone.

Gabon: In Gabon, going to the beach and then going to a restaurant is a very popular P-Day.

In any part of the mission, you can go shopping at the markets for souvenirs. Douala is the capital for souvenirs and Congo is the capital for buying fine African fabrics that you can have made into ties and clothes.
